Our Elephant Died!

That was the news I heard on the radio last week. The Riverbank Zoo’s female elephant died, supposedly of natural causes.

Being quite fond of this and all elephants, we decided to go to the zoo last weekend and pay our respects.

Well the daddy elephant looked very solemn, choosing to eat some comfort food….

And so we wondered if our other friends at the zoo ahhh, got wind of the news?

The Bears looked quite angry..

…but seemed to make up….

The Lion family was laying around, bummed about the news..

The kids didn’t seem to take it too bad…

The baboons were picking at each other….

And the Giraffe showed his ass….

Even our little monster was upset and broke free from her room!

Still others seemed at peace, like the freakish Tapir…

That went for a swim

The Tortoise didn’t seem to lose a step….

The monkeys were playing

The Penguin Girl was preparing her Happy Feet…

my little penguin

And Mr. and Mrs. Gorilla were letting their baby run wild!

While Mommy watched…

and Daddy watched from a far…

Soon, though, the baby came to play with his mum…

and play….

and that’s when I realized I had something in common with the momma Gorilla….

My feet and toes are starting to look like hers!

That’s about all there is for now knuckleheads.

I will try to do a better job next time.

One final bonus question….

What is the difference between a Turtle and a Tortoise?

No Googling now!

Have a great weekend!!

Christmas ~ what a Zoo!

Hello gang!

I promised myself, about a month ago, i would tell you about our trip to the Zoo.

You see, ever since I have belonged to this Zoo I have received emails every Christmas about their Christmas lights. The ads looked nice so I finally picked a day when I could run the girls up ( and 2 of their closest friends) to sight-see the Zoo and see how Christmasy the place can be.

Well, the day I picked….

It rained!

….but I was not going to let that dampen our fun!

But first we hung our wet socks (and sneakers) by the chimney with care.

In hopes that our pizza soon would be there….

Then it was off to the Zoo to check out some Christmas lights…

And some snake frights…

There were some big Boa’s and some small green Anacondas

Sea Lions swimming….

Maine Lobsters hiding

And mermaids posing….

~You can see how we were sticking to the inside exhibits~

There were tiny Koala Bears

And huge sleeping Grizzly Bears

These I wanted to be especially careful towards.

I can picture the fierceness of a Grizzly when woken up from his winter nap!

I did not want my rowdy kids running by here and waking these sleeping giants up!

Oh wait!

They did!

They did wake them up…

There was ol’ Huck Finn Grizzly, with the piece of straw hanging out of his mouth saying,

“Scratch my belly!”

Maybe he was not so fierce after all?

All the gorillas were in their cage and out of the cold rainy night.

This smaller gorilla was hiding something and getting fed by the Zoo staff….

Oh wait again!

She was holding her little baby!

She held it up once for all on lookers (both of us) to take a picture of, like any proud Mum would do.

But a rainy night it was .

Bearly (get it?) anyone was there.

But I was not going to let that spoil the umbrella of luxury and fun I provided for the girls.

So Santa provided….

an umbrella so they could stay dry(er)….

….while they caught marshmallows on fa-fa-fa-fire.

It was chilly!

But that did not stop my school of Christmas elves from making the most of it and having a great time!

Did somebody say, ‘PRESENTS?’

That’s it for now boys and girls.

I will try to do a better job next time!

Until then, please enjoy whats left of this fabulous time of year.

Stay warm.

Stay dry.

Stay Healthy!

And give somebody a hug.

And lets see what new changes this new year may bring!

Merry Christmas Week everyone!
