Are you ready?
I had the opportunity to travel to a company meeting yesterday on upcoming events in 2014. These types of things usually are bolstered by some sort of funny or motivational videos to break up the meeting.
Unfortunately for you, one of these really stood out to me yesterday. I loved it.
Part of it was because it was a real life running story, and have a bit of a racing history. But another part of it just illustrated what one can achieve when you want something bad enough.
My company used it to illustrate the point of ‘Being Prepared’. But I think you can label this great achievement under a half dozen personal or professional clichés. ‘Heart’ comes to mind.
So if you can use a good motivational lift today or if you prepare similar types of business meetings yourself you really should see this….
Goal attainment comes to mind after watching that. What do you think?
What would you have done?
I had another video I have been wanting to post, but I did not want my blog to come across as one that preaches these things all the time. There are many blogs out there that can do it better than mine.
It’s actually one of my favorite commercials right now. Its by Guinness. And if you watch it don’t assume you know what the moral of the story is. Watch and see what happens towards the end. That final motto is a phrase I have lived by.
No, not the motto, “Guinness, have more”. Its the “choices we make reveal the true nature of our character“.
And I think the message there just goes back to the first video, doesn’t it?
Are you ready to have the best weekend ever?
I may go for a run……and then drink a Guinness.
You have t look at the girl’s face at the end, when the race was over. She wasn’t estatic, She wasn’t jumping up and down or even smiling. She expected to win. And when you know you are really prepared for something you expect to win, like she did. She apparently had to work a little bit harder than she had planned. ~ I thought if she could smoke those other runners like she did that last 110 meters, whe was she even close to someone at the final lap? Adenaline Thanks for looking in and commenting. I know you are prepared my friend!
Of course this post resonated with me! That is a really amazing commercial. I have been thinking a lot about choices lately (okay, for the past few years,) and it’s all about the choices we make. There is so much power in that too– knowing that while I can’t control everything, I can choose to live my life a certain way.
I’m a little confused as to why your company would use that first video to stress the importance of being prepared. I see nothing of that in the video. I agree with you– heart is a great way to describe that. Great post, Andy. Thanks for a little dose of motivation and inspiration today.
Thanks Ms. Jessica.I am glad you liked them. They both spoke to me too. ~Keep running Jess! Thanks for dropping by an adding in (another Angel earns her wings 😉 )
Wow. That’s amazing. Both videos are inspirational, yes. The first video = determination. But that Guinness ad says it all. To me, character is the most important thing… That’s my motto, too!!! Great post!!!!
My weekend was Fabulous D Anna! And yours? How was your weekend in the big city? Thanks for dropping by my little home here in WordPress… 🙂 Have a dazzling week my friend!
Ouch! Good she has friends like you to help her back up! Have a great week Jenn!
awesome!! i’ll leave you with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agzrYs0QfcU
she’s a friend of mine from college who had a gig as a cruise ship singer. she was an amazing dancer/singer/actress, and beautiful on stage…and amazingly clumsy at the same time!
Hope you had a great weekend! 🙂
Weren’t they two great videos? Being a bit of a runner I teared up when she fell and then pulled it together and passed everyone. And I have loved that Guinness commercial for awhile thinking that’s one of the best commercials out there in a long while…by a beer company no less. Sorry I have been outta touch…multiple things taking up computer time lately, as you might imagine. I hope you and your kids are doing great! I may have another award for you if you let me. 🙂 have a great weekend Karen! Thanks for dropping by!
lmao…you are very funny when you are on vacation, Ms. Doing Nothing. Glad to hear you made it to CA. I hope the government let you in to the places you wanted to see. When you get home please call me and we will go for a run…then replenish the fluids. Its a great ‘carrot-on-a-stick’ approach to fitness. 😉 Drink some Sangria and Margaritas for me this week! I am still largely on the wagon. Let me know how I liked them then. Have a great time vacationing! ~I’m so jealous …again
What, the getting up and keep going part? And she didn’t stay down but a second. ~ She was so much faster than mawh too. I have a few Dr’s appointments coming up in a week so we will know how well I ma running my race. I hope you and your clan are doing well Speedy! As always, thanks for dropping by. 🙂
Yes, I thought the second one was one of the coolest things I have seen and just looking for away to drop it in a post. Its certainly not what you think of when you first start watching the video. yes, we can’t have enough friends like that! May I buy you a Guinness tonight? 😉 Thanks for dropping by and saying Hello Ms. Country Music. Have a great weekend!
lol …well thats one way to look at it. If that was me my knee would have been bleeding and the girl kicking me in the head as she jumped over me. I always appreciate your various outlooks on things. Hope you are doing well and enjoying your weekend. Thanks for dropping by!
Blew me away. Both of them. LOVE! Thanks so much for sharing & uplifting my day, Andy. 🙂
Greetings from California. I’ve got limited wifi but thought I would stop by. Great videos! And messages, especially how you should drink after physical exertion, or in my case, after doing absolutely nothing. 😉
Makes me think of you and your incredible race…Godspeed, 3D.
Fantastic post, I love the second commercial. It makes me smile every time I see it. May we all have friends just like his.
Well, she took a rest in the middle of the race, of course she was going to win 😛
Very nice!
I thought it was too. I was trying to think what I would do there. First thought was to slap the ground an curse violently andthen I thought I would be too embarrassed to just sit there so get up and run. You could tell at the end she just expected to win the race. She wasn’t overjoyed or jumping up and down. She was supposed to win and did what she had to do to win it. Have a great weekend Diana! Thanks for dropping by….
Very inspiring! That women’s race was amazing! Thanks for sharing it Andy!
Insomnia has gotten me today. *sigh*
Both videos were great. I always want to run.
I have a friend who is quadrapalegic and his sister, one of my besties, used to participate in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby in his honor. 🙂
Its ok, that’s the way I have been feeling the last few days too or else you may be busy replying to my many comments. Doesn’t that first video just make you want to run?
Great Friday inspiration. (Sorry, that’s all I’ve got right now.)
