Report Card Day
Friday was a big report card day here in 3D.
Dylan received her first ever report card from Elementary school. I guess you all know how proud we are of our little school girl. She has continually flashed signs of brilliance in most things she does.
To our surprise then we found out she did not get all ‘A’s on her report card.
She got a ‘B’ in Writing as well as Music and Art.
Now her writing is not what you and I do. It is simply learning how to write upper case and lower case letters, as well as making sure they are placed on the ruled line. And to be honest she has trouble with this. If she would have gotten an ‘A’ here it may have made the others grades suspect. But we are so very proud of her, ‘B’ and all!
Her teacher says she is a real joy to have in class. She says she is a good helper. And when I walked into school this week I found Dylan’s picture on the wall outside her classroom.
Dylan’s teacher spotted D. using the ‘Lifeskill‘ of Responsibility and gave her an award for it. Atta girl Dylan!
Plus those Parent Police out there may be happy to know she has replaced the Buffett CD with her favorite Disney songs CD for our ride to school in the morning.
Skylar, on the other hand, did not receive any report card Friday. But she did attend a preschool Arts and Crafts session at our local library that day. She cut out materials to make a paper pumpkin that she is so proud of.
She evidently behaved so good at the library that our nanny decided to take her to the mall for a soft pretzel. OK, this may have been as much for the nanny as it was for Skylar.
While sitting at the mall eating their pretzels a lady at the near by both asked is Skylar wanted her hair curled? After a little negotiating Skylar got herself a brand new ‘dew…until bath time later that same afternoon.
She is so cute and mastering that ‘Say Cheese pose’ at such an early age!ย
Her nanny confides Skylar is doing quite well in her own school work at home and do a lot of the things Dylan is asked to do in Kindergarten right now. Go Skye!
And I had my first report card of sorts, as related to my cancer treatment. I had an appointment with my cancer doctor Friday. It wasn’t so much to see where I was at with my cure but to take a pictures of all the seeds that were inside me.
Its funny, when you think of ‘seeds’ and you may think of Spring or Growth or Life. With my seeds, it is quite the opposite! These nuclear bad boys are to kill existing cancer cells. The ‘weeds’ in my prostate so to speak.
They checked my vitals. Took a quick scan of my mid-section via a CAT scan machine. And then gave me 20 minutes of face time with my doctor.
He smiled and told me everything looks great, just the way it is supposed to look. All the seeds were properly in place. And that these darn side effects affecting my urinary tubes, pee’ing and getting up several times at night should start to wear off about now.
So I was all smiles and left in a pretty good mood. They didn’t have to stick me (yet) or insert anything anywhere or test anything. Just a few pictures.
So, feeling pretty good, I decided to celebrate at my favorite restaurant that just happens to sit at the end of the road from the doctor’s office…
That’s right, a dozen Halloween donuts from Dunkin Donuts, including my favorite…the Boston Scream!
So Friday was a great Report Card day all around!
I have talked a lot about Dylan’s techno-savvy skills her lately, between Internet searches and skills on Mom’s cell phone. So I wanted to leave you with a cute video from December 2010. Dylan was about 2 1/2 years old I think. You all know the Hookie Pookie, right?
Back then that was Dylan’s favorite song and we had a video I bookmarked on Youtube where we could do a crazy dance to it once a day. Lots of fun! OK, several times a day.
So if you are familiar with the Hookie Pookie you know how the dance goes,
“…you put your left leg in, left leg out, left leg in and you shake it all about.
You do the Hookie Pookie and you turn yourself around. That’s what its all about”
Well we just got done playing with the song on the computer and I must have walked away.
I say this because I went to record some Christmas videos a few weeks later and found one video on there I didn’t remember making.
What is this I thought?
So I played it. Here Dylan climbs up on top of my chair in front of the computer. Remember, she is two and 1/2 now. She then plays the video again on youtube, without anyone’s helpย (2 1/2). Then she decides to pick up Daddy’s video camera and film herself doing the Hookie Pookie…sort of.
In the video, she is dancing and turns the camera on and then holds it to her eye like she has seen daddy do time and time again. If you take a look keep in mind she is dancing while filming this and so the movements of the camera represent her ‘shake it all around’ and so on. Take a look…
Oh, and she is innocently singing the song too while she is dancing…and filming with camera to her eye…while standing on top of the chair…with nobody around to see her. She’s just in her happy girl mode!
The sippy cup sitting there illustrates how young she was then. Yes, that’s my Dad, her Grandpa, chiming in there at the end. He is turned around and facing the other way watching TV. He just heard her singing to herself. He didn’t realize what she just did.
Have a GREAT rest of your weekend everyone!
I hope you find that happy innocent inner child too and do a Hookie Pookie with someone! Or alone like little D.
Thanks Ms. Fingerwriting. Yes we are not worried too much about that. Overall we are thrilled with her progress. She is a competitor! I see her wroking hard to be the best in the class at most things. Thanks for dropping by! Always great to hear from you…
Congrats on that first report card! Don’t worry about the B, that will soon change:-) Her responsibility award will propel her to practice her writing.
Hi Ms. Jamia! So good to hear from you! How are you? Yes we all are doing very well. I had a passing bout of ‘the cancer’, still probably do a bit. But you would never know it. The girls are doing great and Dylan is loving school and doing so well. Like you said, she has passed her reading tests to a 1st grade level and getting promoted to 1st grade with Math as well.If you hadn’t seen it, take a look at her first week of school posts back about mid August for some cute stories and pics. We think about you often and hope you are doing well. You are always welcome to come by and see the girls whenever you have time, as well as see the house that started all this. I will always wonder how your book deal is going? Again, thanks for dropping by and hope you are doing well. Don’t be a stranger here….. ๐
To me Dunkin are one of the best things in the world, ALTHOUGH, if you live here in the south Krispy Kreme is rated #1 Dunkin is out of New England I think. When you and Marisha come to visit I will be sure to have some on hand. ๐ Thanks for the kind words, that pic of Skylar was so cute I had to fit it in somehow. And, yes, daddy is kinda proud…and blessed, ~Thanks for dropping by Luanne! I hope you are having a great week too!
So happy that everything’s going so well for you all! I miss the girls so much!
Dunkin’ Donuts! We don’t have those, I don’t think. Way to go, Dylan!!! Very cute girls, Proud Daddy.
Thanks Ms. Sandy! They are cuter than I deserve. I told them they are not allowed to get another year older too. hope youare doing well this week! Thanks for looking in!
You have two charming little ladies there. You are well-deserving of that Great Dad award. Be proud.
Thanks for your kind words Maria! Yes, we are proud of her and Skylar…and they are just getting started! ..and they ARE cuter than I deserve. I hope you are feeling well and survived another road trip to school. I am looking forward to hearing about it! Thanks for dropping by, Ms. Brown Eye!
Thanks for your kind words Jenn. Hey, I have one or two donuts left…they are yours if you want them! ๐ Thanks for dropping by and saying hello. I’m wishing you continued success at your end!
Well I can picture you with the stickers and the face paint too! I hope you had a great time. And thanks for the kind words and advice for my two lil girls. So you give yourself high heels while I get donuts for myself? I gotta guess my habit is a wee less expensive. When are you going to do a post on your heel collection and maybe what each one represents as far as good news? I would love to see them. I had to watch my tongue with your last post and 5 Inches. I had a dozen one liners for ya but decided to play nice. ~ Thanks for dropping by Lisa and commenting. I hope there are more heels in your near future!
I was afraid YOU would say something about that. Truth is, I took the dozen to work and had a few there. That’s my story and I am stickin to it. I am glad you are home. I hope you had a special time with your daughter in LA too. Yes, that pic of Skylar was sooo cute I had to fit it in. And imagine my surprise when I found that video of the hookie pookie on my camera. I didn’t know it existed! Isn’t it super cute with her singing and shaking? One of my all time favs! Now the bad news…I am a Penn state fan. the SSM sometimes jokes about her Alabama. And when I think of FSU I think of the rivalry in # of wins between Bowden and Paterno…so I always rooted for them to lose back then. But FSU is playing great this year. And you have helped me sooo much with your positive energy this summer the least I could do is try to repay you. So go Noles! I think they when by 2 touchdowns this weekend1 ๐ Glad to hear you are back. The beach was getting lonely.
Thanks Karen! We are super proud of her, in case you haven’t noticed. ๐ I hope you are doing well! Thanks for looking in!
Thanks Ms. D Anna…I think she is only getting warmed up! Good to hear from you! Thanks for dropping by….
Hi Ms. Kelly! So good to see you again! Yes I had biopsies done the first week of May and got the results, confirming my prostate cancer in my birthday. The next few weeks were pretty dismal. But after they did some more tests they found that the cancer was fairly small, 7.5 Grainger Scale and all localized, which was almost like getting another lease on life it felt like. Long story short I had 95 radioactive seeds implanted in my prostate on 9.17. Kelly, all in all it could to have gone smoother. So easy that I feel silly saying I have cancer, it was that easy. I am sure you went through a lot more. If you are interested I have 3 amazingly humorous posts on my whole experience on 9.12, 9.15, and 9.18. ~ it is good to see you in the blogosphere again. I hope you are happy and healthy. Best wishes to you…
What did I miss Andy? What is going on? Cancer?!?!?! WTF?!?!? Hugs, love and kisses I will start to tune in way more often
What a great report card for the whole proud family! Isn’t it great to live via our kids’s accomplishments??? So exciting and adorable. Hope you had a great weekend! I’ve been busy helping my daughter apply to colleges – a whole different experience you will go through in time. ๐
what a sweet post! and great news from your doctor! i also 100% approve of your donut choice – by far my favorite!
Pumpkin? meeeh, you should have picked the chocolate bread donuts instead ๐
I also like the apple cinnamon ones.
PRECIOUS! Soak up every single ounce of time with your girls.
Congratualtions Dylan! And to Skylar!
I facetimed with my two girls yesterday. My oldest just got engaged…SAVE NOW…I went *with her* to go feed up at the barn at her school hwere she teaches AG/FFA. It was wonderful. We now live 7 hours away from each other. The other daughter and I live 3 hours away while she is attending college. I ft her and she was at a football game…cheering away the team…with the team stickers all on her face and in true color co-ordinated fashion. Is there any other way?
Made me miss them so much more.
Prayers and well wishes toward your good report too! I know how that feels as well. Always feels good to get *good* reports.
I do love high heels….THUS, my love and gift to myself ….a new pair of high heels when a good report comes back. Peace my friend.
I’m back from a really great long visit with my daughter in Los Angeles, so I have definitely missed a few posts here. So glad I came back in time to see the report card report. Great news for Dylan and for you!! Let’s see, you bought a dozen donuts to celebrate and photographed 7. Hmmm, does that mean YOU ate 5 before you got them home????
Liking Skylar’s cute curls, too! The Hokey Pokey video wins the prize…after getting over holding my breath that Dylan was safe throughout it. It really was very clever of her, as well as so darn cute!!
I noticed your comment above. You are welcome to cheer for my team this coming weekend. ๐ Go Seminoles!! FSU plays Miami, and my family’s allegiance is split. I could use a little extra cheer or two on my side.
Way to go Dylan! ๐
Congratulations to Dylan!
Thanks Ms. SSM We are very proud…if you didn’t notice. That was such a cute pic of Skylar I thought I had to fit it in somehow. Wait to see what happens this week coming up…..more ticks and treats. I hope you all are doing well down there. Roll Tide! I may become a fan…we are getting Boston Creamed ๐ Have a great week!
Hey Ms. Laura! Yes we couldn’t be prouder of everyone this week. It was a good one. Looking forward to an even sweeter week next week! We hope you are doing good! Thanks for dropping by..
I actually had a $1 off coupon for the donuts that I had waiting to use for Halloween. the Drs appt. just made it easy to use. Ms. Aurora I hope I don’t burst this fall. There would be little radioactive seeds all over the place. And you guessed it on the Boston Screams. The white icing were Apple & Cinnamon, my second fav and the others were pumpkin and pumpkin pie, Yum!Thanks for looking in AuAu! Come on over for some more donuts! I’ts my treat. ๐
Congrats on her first A-B honor roll! Awesome reports, on both fronts.
Very good report card Dylan! Don’t you worry about that handwriting, you will master it before you know it! Skylar, you look beautiful with your hair curled! Andy, so glad to hear all is going well with you too! Keep writing.
What crazy sock day? those look nice, like skylar curly hair, very elegant.
Oh, I also like the donuts very much, the boston ones are tasty, those are with chocolate cover and sweet cream filling, right? I dont eat them much cause theyre expensive here, but when I had, theres the bad habit of eating too many cause theyre so little, but later they expand in the stomach and makes you nearly burst ๐
Good to hear about your good results.
